The name "newspaper" came from the name of a small Italian coin of a newspaper (Italian gazzetta). In the 16th century, a newspaper was paid for reading a daily public leaflet with information (messages about court life, trade news, messages from other cities). According to the Soviet GOST - "leaf publication in the form of one or several sheets of printed material of the established format, publically adapted to the specifics of this periodical."
