Historical Museum. D. I. Yavornytsky is one of the oldest national museums of Ukraine. The Museum is located in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, at the address - Karl Marx Prospekt, 16
The monument was established in 1849, originally as "the Museum of antiquities Ekaterinoslav province". The modern building of the historical Museum was built in 1905, Its formation and development are closely connected with the name of academician D. Yavornytsky, which in 1902 was the Director of the Museum. In 1940, the Museum was renamed the "Dnipropetrovsk historical Museum named after D. I. Yavornytsky".
Visitors to this historic Museum will be able to learn all of its 155-year history, to see a large number of collected items. Namely, a variety of historical and cultural monuments of national and world cultures, different interesting archaeological finds relics of the Zaporozhian Cossacks, early printed editions of the XVI-XVII century, archival and photographic collections of Scythian and Sarmatian times.
