РЕШИТЬ 1. Read the text and use the words given in capitals to form a word that fits in the space given in the same line.
Before I went to the UK for the first time, I’d never (1) THINK about different accents and dialects. People’s (2) SPEAK varies across the (3) LONG and breadth of Britain, sometimes making (4) COMMUNICATE difficult, even for native speakers. This is because their (5) CHOOSE of vocabulary differs from region to region, and also because the way they (6) ACTUAL say the words differs. I met someone from Glasgow. The (7) STRONG of his accent made it (8) POSSIBLE to work out what he said. So I asked a friend from London who was with me, and he hadn’t (9) UNDERSTAND either! Luckily, (10) WRITE English doesn’t have the same kind of problems as spoken English.
