Changing from active to passive
Subject
Verb
Active: The mayor opened
of tourists every year.
at 9 pm.
Object
the new museum
Passive: The new museum was opened by the mayor
The object of the active verb becomes the subject in
the passive sentence.
The active verb changes into a passive form.
The subject of the active verb becomes the agent.
The agent is introduced with by or it is omitted.
Note: by + person: Macbeth was written by Shakespea
with + object: The building was made with
